Lazy Days

I had a VERY lazy weekend.

I looked like a shlumpadinka from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.

So, on Sunday, I decided to get ALL 'done up' for no good reason at all.

Then I decided to have a MacBook photo shoot.

Now, I've found one that I LOVE.

It's from Urban Cookies.

I work with Brady and Sean's mom, Ann.

They had a new baby named Oliver......

and started making Ollie Cakes!

the one that I like is the carrot cake.

It's not even like cake, it's more like carrot bread.

The frosting is deliciously creamy & tart & sour.

But who wouldn't like a cupcake made by this guy?!?!?

My cousin, John Dougherty, died one year ago today from Melanoma. I can't believe it has been an entire year. PLEASE wear sunscreen EVERY day and PLEASE see your dermatologist regularly.

Below is a poem that his good friend, Tiffany, read at his memorial service. I absolutely love it.

We miss you John.

Now that I'm gone,

remember me with a smile and laughter.

And if you need to cry,

cry with your brother or sister

who walks in grief beside you.

Martini Deliciousness

Before Julie left to join Reed in Connecticut for the 'summah'

We had a very fun martini night at the Kiefer house.

The recipe for these DELICIOUS martinis

(it's called the Wind and Sea)

is from Azul,

one of my favorite places to go in La Jolla.

Their food and drinks are TDF

& the view from the restaurant is incredible.

So, Julie and I shook some up,

watched Coyote Ugly (complete with a sing along),

and popped some KieferKorn.

(have you had popcorn from the Kiefers? It's SO good).

and before we knew it...........

........the entire bottle of vodka was gone......

****don't judge until you've tried these, you'd do the same***

.........and we were drunk dialing........

(sorry Joe Cockrell, we just really love you).

The next day we crawled out of bed for our 9:00 a.m.

(I know, I'm a genius) massages and facials at Jurlique Spa.

When we arrived at the spa we noticed this sign.

I resisted the urge to ask,

"What if you're still kind of drunk from the night before?"

Here is the recipe. :)

2 parts raspberry vodka
splash of cointreau
equal parts Pineapple and Cranberry Juice
float champagne on top and garnish with fresh Raspberries.
DEEELISH!

P.S. We were not impressed with the Fireside Resort and kind of "eh?" about the massages and facials. I would recommend spending your money somewhere else!

Secretary

This is what my office looks like today.

I know, it's disgusting and disorganized and awful.

If makes me feel discombobulated

(this is a fun word to use in a blog, no?)

and scatter-brained.

I think I need a secretary.

I used to have a secretary........

His name was Rocco.

He was very strong........

And very intimidating.......

He was also an excellent dancer, gave really good kisses and hugs and was VERY generous with the compliments.

But he moved back to California to be a cowboy

and professional baseball player.

Ho-hum...........
