Nella

My friend JuliAnna
{real-life friend, not blog friend)
introduced her readers
I started reading it last night
and went to bed in tears.
Good tears.
Hopeful tears.
The mom who writes the blog
is painfully honest and
I commend her courage
to get all of her feelings out there.
I can't wait to keep reading about their lives!
I highly recommend you check it out.

p.s. JuliAnna is like the rainman of wedding dresses.
Show her a photo of a bride and she can name the designer, year, season and collection the dress came from.

Totally.

Freaky.

Best

How do you sign your emails?
I used to sign:

Thank you,
Taylor K

But what if I have nothing
to thank them for?
Like,

Dear Sir,

You're an ass-hat.

Thank you,
Taylor K

It doesn't work.

So I've been signing them

Best,
Taylor K

lately.

Because I do wish them the best.
Even if they're an ass-hat.

Here are some photos from
www.weheartit.com

They came up when I searched for *best.*
They're the best of the best search.

I hope you're having the best day ever.

Best,
Taylor K

Found

I am having a really hard time
posting photos to this thing.
So, they're just going to be wonky.

A few months ago I won a really great
blog giveaway from the Domestic Bliss.
If you are in Arizona and haven't been to DB
then you are SOOOO missing out.
They're {if I understand correctly} opening DB
in a new location and are opening a brand new
store this weekend in the old location called FOUND.
Below are the fun things I won in the
DB Blog giveaway.

I can't space these photos properly
so I'm going to give you
the descriptions all at one time.

#1- Cool bag that I now use to pack my lunch in.
#2- polka-dot cuff
#3- deliciously scented soap
#4- leopard lip gloss ball
#5- Happy Gum, for my crappy life
{please see packaging, that's what it says}
#6- An ice cream cone! But it's not real ice cream.
#7- It's a manicure set! Ta-da!

My friend Justin came over to

He has a friend who is in Cleveland
for a few months for work.
He wanted a Wendy's cheeseburger
so googled 'wendy's cleveland.'
 He found this review.
Watch out Yelpers.
It's the best I've ever read.

'Wendy's be BAWLIN' yo.
Chicken nuggitz be crispy
like you never SEEN.
I tried one and wuz like
'WHAAAAAAT!
You crazy Wendy!'
Mean girls be workin the friers tho.
Dis one chick wouldn't even let me holla.
I wuz like 'please girl you ugly anyways.'"

Amazing, right?

p.s. I have Justin reading this on video.
Hillar.
Now I just need to figure out how to
upload a video.
Anyone know what is going on with blogger
photos?
Why can I only add photos from Picasa, URL and
photos I've previously posted?
Lame.

Summer Song

Remember
last year's

I found this year's.

I know it's a little early,
but I can't resist.
It makes me want to move my
hips and drink beer in the hot sun.

This week made me very sad to live in Arizona.

We're not all like that.

The end.

prom

I tutor my former boss' son, Reilly.
This weekend was his prom.
I've been, kind of, coaching him
so that his prom date has a fun prom.
I made sure to have him ask what kind
of flower she likes, what color her
 dress is, et cetera.

Reilly and I were tutoring on Thursday evening
and his mom and aunt were in the other room
chatting and drinking wine.
When tutoring ended we all ended up chatting
and I had a glass of wine with them.
We started talking about prom and how fun
getting ready is for the girl, blah blah girlstuff blah.

As I was leaving I said,
'Reilly, if you want to score big, buy the MOM of
your prom date a small bouquet of flowers!'

I got blank stares from the mom and aunt
and an, 'Um, hmmm. ok,'
from Reilly.

I then realized that I'd used the words
SCORE and PROM in the same sentence
which usually mean doing it after the dance, right???

I wanted to say something like, 'I meant score like she'll think
you're a gentleman! Not score like the S-E-X!'

But, I decided that I'd done enough damage.

So I left.

:)

Did you guys have good prom experiences?
I would say mine was average.
My date was shorter than me and I
didn't know him that well.

Meh......

Did anyone do the S-E-X after prom night?

Scandalous!

Go ME

I was pouring myself a glass of wine this evening when I glanced at the fridge and noticed that I've had these bottles of booze on top of my fridge since the SUPER BOWL!

That's, like, almost three months! Booze! In my house! Three months!

I might get my responsible grownup card sooner than I thought.

Just sayin'.

Thank you Jenny from Eeko Studio!

If you would like, become a BLD fan on Facebook
I need 25 fans (I think) to create a custom URL.

This is on our work calendar today....
and while I won't be celebrating this holiday,
I thought this article was very interesting
on the origin of the holiday.
I always thought it was the police code for
'pot smoking in progress.'
Shows how much I know!

What is a Doula?

I've had a lot of questions about what a Doula is,
what a Doula does
and why/when/where people have
Doulas.

I thought I would share some information from the
{the Doula certification group}
to answer some questions.
I'll address some other questions in the future,
but thought this was a good start!

What is a doula?

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.

Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.

A Birth Doula

    * Recognizes birth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life
    * Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor
    * Assists the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth
    * Stays with the woman throughout the labor
    * Provides emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the woman get the information she needs to make informed decision
    * Facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers
    * Perceives her role as nurturing and protecting the woman's memory of the birth experience
    * Allows the woman's partner to participate at his/her comfort level

A birth doula certified by DONA International is designated by the initials CD(DONA).

Research evidence shows that the quality services of a postpartum doula can ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to a family, improve parental satisfaction and reduce the risk of mood disorders.

A Postpartum Doula

    * Offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester
    * Assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying
    * Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary

A postpartum doula certified by DONA International is designated by the initials PCD(DONA).

**I'm a birth doula and will be
going through my postpartum training in August.

VW

so, the new VW commercials are cute.
But, was anyone else under the
impression that you can *only* punch
if it's a slug bug or double slug bug?
It bugs me that they're punching for
different models.
If anyone punches me because they see
a Tauareg I will prolly punch them in the junk.

This is your one and only warning.

Remember a couple of weeks ago
when it was Spanky's birthday?
He had a surprise cowboy party
thrown by the Sunday night dinner crew.
My whole family lives in CA
and they get together on Sunday nights.
I always wish I were there to join them,
but I especially wished it on this night.

There were.....

 cowboy cakes served
by other mother.
{other mother is my mom's bff}

cowboys with lassos...
escaping ponies
{on the right}

cowboy boot centerpieces

a sweet baby sitting on Miss Chocolate's lap

old friends....

stylish sunglasses.....

wild bandits...

and handsome little brothers
drinking
sasparilla......

i miss them.
a lot a lot.

Hold Please

making phone calls is my
least favorite part of my job.

i am not a phone person.

i don't like chatting about random stuff
with friends or strangers.

i prefer texting or emailing.

impersonal, i know.

perhaps i would enjoy making phone calls
if i had a cool phone like the ones
above? especially the batman/pizza phone.

Aaaaah!

Just realized that my dad and step mom are coming into town this weekend, NOT next weekend like I thought. PANIC has set in. Here is the list of things I should probably do before their arrival;

- Get car washed
- Get hair cut/manicure/pedicure
- deep clean house
- paint bedroom
{I still have paint samples on my bedroom walls from
MONTHS ago}
- lose 30 pounds

I will probably not do any of
these things.

the judgement day is upon us.

quelle horreur

this weekend....

I completed Doula training classes
{more on that this week}, dog sat, baby sat,
slept, drove A LOT, fell asleep 20 minutes
into watching
Where the Wild Things Are
{I NEVER fall asleep in movies}.

what did you do?

full

I had a fantastic weekend.
I am full.
Full of new knowledge
and experiences.
Full of possibility.
Full of opportunity.
I am feeling fulfilled.
And I am feeling like I have found
what I am supposed to do.

I hope that you are also feeling full.

Full of love.

Full of life.

....more tomorrow....

Well, look at what I discovered when
I came home last night!!!

There is a red scarf over the light outside of

cracking up

So.
I spent last evening chatting with my mom
on the phone and drinking wine.
I talked her through how to upload photos
to facebook
{she is new to facebook}
and told her how to edit photos on her new MacBook.
I ended up drinking a bit too much
{ok, a lot too much}
and when I went to bed my phone
was totally out of batteries.

I set the alarm on my bedside table instead of setting my
phone alarm because it was out of juice.
I, on the other hand, was full of juice. ;)

In my *fuzziness* I must have set my time ahead
by one hour because I got up, rushed
around getting ready, hopped in my car
and realized that I was
AN HOUR EARLY
driving to work.

I decided to go to my favorite CenPho coffee bar to
kill some time. I plugged my phone into the
car charger and off I went.

I arrived at the coffee shop and brought my phone in.
While waiting for my soy latte I checked my email and found this
from my mom.
It seems she is not so good at the photo editing.
Tee hee!

subject: i am totally serious and totally retardation

email: i used the edit feature, the remove red eye
 one and look what happened.
now i don't know how to make myself nice again.
DIS ITH NOT YOUR MUDDAH.

I.
WAS.
HOWLING.

The baristas just started at me like I was a lunatic.

And that is the end of my story.

Achoo

I am home in bed right now.
I should be at work
but I decided to take the
morning off because my
gosh darned allergies
kept me up last night
I tossed and turned.
Then in the shower this morning
I got a bloody nose that I couldn't stop!
So I sent an email to my boss telling
him I would be in at noon.
Noon is a much better work start time than 8:30,
don't you think?
I've spent the morning listening to NPR,
reading blogs
and eating Nerds
{the candy, not the people}
 from my Easter basket
 in my bed.
Because I'm an adult.
And adults are allowed to have
candy for breakfast.
In their beds.

Work Stuff

So, the new job is going well so far.
I was a little uncomfortable when I arrived
on the first day because the IT person gave us
headsets which are SOOOO Office Space.

Although I rarely use the headset for phone calls
{only when I have to secretly listen in on someone
else's phone call for training purposes}
I have discovered two new wonderful uses for the headset.

#1
Pretending I'm Britney Spears and making
my cube neighbor pee her pants laughing by
surprising her with a breathy rendition of
"Baby One More Time."

#2
Pretending I'm a nurse taking care of a patient
{the patient is also me because
in my games I have multiple personalities syndrome}
by attaching a heartbeat monitor to their finger.
do you know what I'm talking about?
the thing with the red e.t. light that you get
in the hospital????

please disregard the chipped nail polish.
this patient had a super serious seizure and
ruined her manicure.

Music Monday

SO,
I keep making the lights go out in and around my cubicle.
I've decided that it must be because I am a wizard.
Like Harry Potter or Hermoine.
Remember when that on the down low witch made her
wand take all of the lights out of the street lights on
Privet Drive because she doesn't want the
death eaters to see them?
I do that.
With my cube lights.
Obviously.

I just haven't figured out what my wand is.
I'm thinking it's my pink hi-liter?
Or maybe it's my iPhone?
That thing is definitely magic.

Anyway, whenever I make the lights go out
and Ronaldo
(same name as Ron Weasley! Coincidence? I think not.)
has to come change them out
this song gets stuck in my head.

You're welcome for the 90's boy band badness.
