pugs not drugs

067

I pug sat this weekend. We had a lovely time watching Flipping Out, Rachael Zoe and the Real Housewives.

Good LORD I miss cable!

q: How funny is this shirt?

I can't give a photo credit because I stole it from my friend's facebook page.

Winston {the pug} has a facebook page. He's so technologically savvy.

I had a super productive day yesterday. I became CPR certified {are you choking? I can help.}, had an appointment with my tutoring client's English teacher {I think English teachers are the best teachers}, and I cleaned my refrigerator. Not just cleaned it out, but CLEANED it. With vinegar. Someone call the Green Police, we have a new citizen of the week. After my cleaning frenzy I went grocery shopping and read a good chunk of this book.

Attention boozehounds {myself included}; did you see this wonderful news yesterday?

so domestic

063

When you read this I will be in my postpartum doula training classes.

Hooray!

I am very excited to learn how to help new moms with their new important duties. I've pretty much got the baby thing down from nannying {see my babies here, here, and here} for so long, but I am sure I will learn a thing or two this weekend.

One of the things I miss most about nannying is the laundry. I know this sounds weird, but I love doing kid laundry. I love folding their little blankies and onesies and shorts and footie jammies.

I {along with Julie's mom and sis} hostessed Julie's baby shower last weekend {photos to come} and I used onesies and cloth diapers to decorate. But first, I had to wash and fold them so that they would be nice and good-smelly. I think I am a nester by nature.

Ok, I am done reminiscing about Dreft now.

I hope you're having a nice weekend.

oh, hi there.

Dear Blog,

I'm sorry I've been so neglectful all week.

Bad blogger.

I'm driving to CA today {postpartum doula training. yay!} and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

What are your favorite travel snacks? I always pick up peachy-o's and Gardetto's. Delicious.

I'll be back next week in full-force-blogging mode.

word of the day

While sipping my green tea, eating my peanut butter toast and reading the NYT movie reviews this am I came across the word Insouciant

Use it in a sentence today, okay? Embrace the word. Be the word.

Insouciant
Adjective
free from concern, worry, or anxiety; carefree; nonchalant.

just me?

Do you ever go from happy to depressed in 2.2 seconds? And then go into a deep dark pit of despair and almost start crying because you feel like no one likes you and your friends & family aren't being supportive and why don't I EVER have any money and why did that mystery liquid spill in my FREEZER and no one is ever going to marry me and my future hypothetical children prolly {prolly is a word in the Land of Tay} won't even like me and....................

......then.......

....you realize that it's 1:34 and you haven't eaten anything all day?

And then your cube neighbor brings you a carnitas burrito from Panchero's {have you been there? they make your tortilla right in front of you. It's amazeballsdeliciosa. Also, they have a thingy that they mix all of the burrito ingredients with so that everything is distributed evenly making every bite the perfect bite} and all is right with the world even though you're pretty sure you ate some of the burrito wrapping paper because you were so GOSHDARNHUNGRY?!?!?

Yeah, me too.

**********************************************************

Whoa, sorry about the run on sentences.

Amazeballsdeliciosa is being added to the Land of Tay dictionary today. Make a note.

p.s. my birthday was amazing. blog post to come.

be kind

001

Do you ever get the birthday blues? I do. When my birthday comes around it serves as a reminder of the things I have not accomplished, but thought I would have accomplished by this age {28, yikes!}. I know how silly it is to measure my life according to goals I set when I was in high school, but I can't keep my mind from traveling into who I thought I would be mode. It's not that I am unhappy with who I am and who I am becoming; I just thought I would be 'there' already.

So, in order to combat this ridiculous way of thinking I am going to be kind to myself. It is, after all, one of my goals for the new year. I think that you {yes, YOU} should also do something for yourself today. I am declaring August 6th do something nice for yourself day. Do it for my birthday. Be nice to yourself.

Here are some ideas I have for you;

Buy yourself a new book.

Eat some french fries. It is Fryday, after all.

Take a bath with your most expensive bubbles.

Take a nap.

Breathe.

Make a delicious cocktail {have a few} like the one pictured above. It's my new favorite summer refreshment.

Ingredients:

Trader Joe's Pomegranate LimeAde
Cointreau
Tequila or Vodka, your choice.
Lime squeeze/garnish
Serve over ice.

Sip. Think about all of the lovely things you have done in your life.

I am off to buy myself a birthday present at The Willows.

Love ya, mean it.

the bachelorette

I know. I'm late jumping on the bachelorette final episode train, but here we go anyway.

Toot toot! <-----that is my train whistle.

I went to Nathan and Michael's to watch the season finale. Michael and I always text before/during/after the bach episodes, so we thought we should probably watch the finale together. Good thinking, right?

I made a very yummy dinner. The boys are doing South Beach, so I brought a rotisserie chicken and topped it with dried cranberry, a dollop of goat cheese and some pine nuts. Then I made THIS vegetable recipe. I did not serve it raw, I sauteed it in olive oil and added mushrooms and onions. It was delicious.

Then we drank lots and lots of wine. Don't tell the South Beach people. Nathan and Michael could get in trouble.

Here are some photos from the evening. Enjoy.

Winston T. Pug {Winston is on facebook AND he tweets. Smart pug, right?} was very distraught over who Ali was going to choose, as you can see.
068
Roberto or Chris, Roberto or Chris?!?!?
067
Nathan and Michael imitating Ali's silly laugh.
073
This guy on the commercial must have been REALLY mad that Ali chose Roberto.
065
And this lady was being very judgmental about Ali's choices throughout the season, as you can see from these photos. Rude.

That is all.

Have a great day!

<3 ya, mean it.

p.s. Frank, you should have come on the after show you big BABY!

Here are my twitter thoughts from Monday night while we were watching the show:

Taylor (that's me) Said:

Dear Chris, come find me. I will be your soul mate. Ok? #bachelorette

'I was ready to cement our feelings.' is that what the kids are calling it these days? #bachelorette

Frank is lame!!!!! #bachelorette

They are NOT playing 'can you feel the love tonight' are they? #thebachelor

'I have never done so much thinking in my life.' -Roberto. R, that's very obvious. #bachelorette

The party boat has GOT to go. #bachelorette

'he should have polished those shoes. is he wearing black with a navy tie?Questionable. his jacket is way too small.' -@ntinaz

Roberto needs some hair product. #bachelorette

'the ring represents a lot of stuff.' sage words, ring man. #dumbass #bachelorette

'i love getting on machines that go really fast.' -Ali. Yeah you do. #bachelorette

Dear Ali's dad, orientated is not a word. #bachelorette

birthday wish list

Hello,

My birthday is in three days so I thought you might like to see my birthday wish list.

Ya know, just in case you decide to send me a little something.

1) 17 baby panda bears.

Now that roomie is moving out, I should have plenty of room for them in my condo.

2) A 'Werewolf Bar Mitzvah' album signed by Tracy Jordan.

3) The Mac Book Pro I built on line yesterday.
Come on guys, it's only five thousand-ish.
You can afford it and I am worth it.
{this is a phrase I say to my father often. It rarely works. :(}

4) A one month vacation on this private island in The Maldives.
You get to use a yacht and a plane while you're there,
so I think it's a pretty good deal.
5) A pink pony.

Thanks in advance for your generosity.

Love ya, mean it.

Music Monday

I LOVE this. It's not a song, but there is music.

Kammie K, my facebook friend and fellow CenPho resident shared it last night on facebook. If you tweet, please be sure to follow her. She shares 'morning mojo' that I really enjoy. :)
