Taste of the Nation, Arizona!

Economic woes have hit Arizona harder than any other state, and higher unemployment means many Arizonans are struggling to feed their families. Demand for Emergency Food Boxes is up more than 50% from this time last year, according to the Arizona Association of Food Banks (AAFB). In Phoenix, it’s even higher. For example, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance is reporting a 90% increase in total distribution over the past year. But unfortunately, donations and funding have not enjoyed the same increases. 

There's a fun, tasty way you can help! Taste of the Nation® Arizona will host its 21st Annual Culinary Event on Saturday, May 2nd. The event is part of a national program aimed at fighting childhood hunger. This year, the Association of Arizona Food Banks and St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance will directly benefit from funds raised at the event- and their need is critical. The event will have more than thirty of Arizona’s finest chefs, restaurants and 1,000 expected attendees. This year’s chefs include Michael DeMaria of Heirloom, Michael Rusconi of Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn, Aaron May of Sol Y Sombra, Beau MacMillan of Elements and Lee Hillson from T. Cooks. Guests will enjoy the city’s finest foods paired with premium wines and signature cocktails, live music from The Chadwicks and an exquisite auction featuring amazing weekend getaways.
